SCENE IV
Jackie and her parents are waving goodbye to fellow students and parents,
while heading for the car.
JACKIE'S MOM:
Congratulations, sweetheart.
JACKIE:
Thanks, Mom.
JACKIE'S DAD:
We're real proud of you, hon.
JACKIE:
(forces a smile)
That's great.
MOM:
What's wrong, Jackie?  This is your graduation day.
You should be ecstatic.
JACKIE:
I'm happy, Mom.  I just don't feel like expressing it right now.
DAD:
Are you still hung up on what happened last year?
They reach the car.
JACKIE:
(growing angry)
NO!  Why does everyone keep asking me that?  I'm completely
over what happened last year.  Eight of my closest friends were
murdered in a house where I live!  It just takes a little time to forget
something like that!  I had to watch several of them die!  But I'm fine
now.  I'm just peachy-keen.  So stop asking me, alright?!
MOM:
(shocked)
Jackie!  There is no need to talk to us like that!
DAD:
Yeah, Jackie.  We're only trying to help.
JACKIE:
I'm sick of people trying to help.
They get in the car and drive off.
