SCENE II
Still at graduation.  Susie is walking through the crowd and spots Helen and Christine.
She runs over to them.  They quickly hug and congratulate each other.  Susie begins to
bring up tonight's party.
CHRISTINE:
Jackie's really having another slumber party?  Aren't they like strictly out
of the question for her?
SUSIE:
They used to be, Christine.  She's trying to change.  She wants to
put last year behind her.
HELEN:
And she's going to do that by having another slaughter party?
SUSIE:
Slumber  party, Helen.  And she wants us all there.
CHRISTINE:
Why, Susie?
SUSIE:
Because she's trying to be normal again.  She's trying to get her life back again,
you guys.  Come on.  It'll be fun.
HELEN:
Okay, I'll go.  I've known Jackie since kindergarten.
SUSIE:
(smiles at Helen thankfully then turns to Christine)
Christine?
CHRISTINE:
But what if some nut from a mental hospital breaks in and we all meet the
receiving end of his portable drill?
SUSIE:
That's not going to happen this time.  Come on, Christine.  You and Jackie
used to be such good friends.
CHRISTINE:
Yeah, I know, Susie.  Y'know, I was invited to the slumber party
last year.
SUSIE:
You were?  Jackie never told me.  How come you didn't go?
CHRISTINE:
I had to go away with my parents on some weekend disaster in
the woods with my little brother.
SUSIE:
You're lucky.
HELEN:
(turning to Susie)
Not really.  Have you ever met her little brother?
They all laugh.
HELEN:
I'm sorry, Christine.  But that little boy is a real terror.
CHRISTINE:
I know.  I live with the little bastard, for Christ's sake.
SUSIE:
(trying to entice)
So anyway, will you go?
CHRISTINE:
(reluctantly)
Um ... okay.  I guess.
SUSIE:
Great!  Be at Jackie's at eight.  And bring some beer, chips, whatever.  Got it?
HELEN:
Yeah, we got it.
SUSIE:
Good.  Try to invite some other girls too.  The party's only down to four.
CHRISTINE:
Four?  That's it?
SUSIE:
Well, I'm about to go and invite Alyssa.
HELEN:
Oh.  Well, I know a couple of girls who will come.
SUSIE:
Just don't forget the beer.  See ya tonight!
Susie runs off, in search of Alyssa.
