SCENE XIV
Christine and Jaimie sit next to
each other on the couch, talking.  The rest of
the girls are in their own conversations.
The music has returned to it's blaring tone.
CHRISTINE:
So what do you think of my friends so
  far?
JAIMIE:
  They're okay.  Jackie's pretty cool.  I got
a chance to meet that other girl outside.
What was her name again?
CHRISTINE:
Alyssa.
JAIMIE:
Alyssa, right.  She's pretty nice.
Jaimie looks over to Jackie and Susie
and sees they're talking and giggling.
JAIMIE:
(turning back to Christine)
Can I ask you something?
CHRISTINE:
Sure.
JAIMIE:
What was Jackie and Susie talking about
before?  About a drill or something.
CHRISTINE:
Oh, that was something that happened
to the two of them last year.
JAIMIE:
What?
CHRISTINE:
I don't know if I should say.
JAIMIE:
Aw, come on.  I won't say anything.
CHRISTINE:
Promise?
JAIMIE:
Yeah, sure.
CHRISTINE:
Well, last year, a maniac got into Jackie's
house while she and her friends were
having a slumber party.  He had a portable
drill.  Most of the girls there died.
Jackie and Susie are the only survivors.
JAIMIE:
(gasps)
Oh, my God!  I had no idea!  That's
horrible.
CHRISTINE:
I know.  Jackie and Susie had to watch
while all of their friends got butchered.
JAIMIE:
God, I'd figure something like that
  would
make a person go ... y'know ... off.
CHRISTINE:
Oh, no.  Not Jackie.  She has it together
real well.  No need to worry about her.
Jackie turns to face them, reaching
  into a bowl of chips.
JACKIE:
What are you two talking about?
CHRISTINE:
You.
JACKIE:
Me?
CHRISTINE:
(jokingly)
Yeah, I gave Jaimie all the dirt on
  you.
JACKIE:
(jokes back)
Oh, you little bitch!
They both laugh.
JACKIE:
So, you having fun, Jaimie?
JAIMIE:
Sure, pretty cool party.  Thanks for
  inviting me.
JACKIE:
No problem.
JAIMIE:
Is there a bathroom I can use?
JACKIE:
Yep.  Upstairs to your right.
JAIMIE:
Great, I'll be right back.
Jaimie grabs her overnight back and
starts up the stairs and down
the hall, following Jackie's directions.
  She find the bathroom, goes
inside and locks the door.  She gazes
at herself in the mirror above
the sink and touches her head, remembering
  how much she drank.
She runs the water and cups her hands
  underneath the running tap.
She splashes the water onto her face.
  After turning the water off,
she reaches in her bag and pulls
  out her nightgown.  Since everyone
downstairs had already gotten changed,
she figured she'd do the same.
She slips out of her jeans and T-shirt,
unhooks her bra, and slips the
nightgown over her head.  Behind
her, in the shower, she hears a tapping
sound.  She opens the curtain to
see Alyssa and George laying lifelessly
in the tub, blood dripping everywhere.
  Jaimie screams and runs out
of the bathroom and straight into
  Jackie.
JACKIE:
Oh, my God, Jaimie.  What's wrong?
The rest of the girls run up the
stairs to the sound of Jaimie's screams.
CHRISTINE:
What's going on?
The girls peek in the bathroom and
are terrified at what they see.
JACKIE:
No, this isn't happening!  It can't
  happen again!  IT CAN'T!
SUSIE:
Jackie, calm down!
CHRISTINE:
I'm calling the police!
Christine runs down the stairs to
the kitchen, the rest follow her.  She
picks up the phone to dial, but there
is no tone.  She clicks it, but
still nothing.
CHRISTINE:
(slams phone down)
It's dead!  Goddamnit!
Jackie spots Dan, standing innocently
  among the group.
JACKIE:
(pointing her finger at him)
You!  It was you, you son of
a bitch!  You see, Susie?  What
the fuck were you thinking?
DAN:
Hey, I don't even know what you're
talking about.
JACKIE:
The fuck you don't!  You
killed them, didn't you?!
Didn't you?!
DAN:
I didn't kill anybody!
JACKIE:
That's bullshit!  But, this isn't
gonna be like last year!
She runs over to a kitchen drawer
  and grabs a knife.
JACKIE:
I'm not gonna watch all my
friends die again!
She raises the knife to stab him,
  but Susie pulls her away.
SUSIE:
Jackie, stop!
JACKIE:
What are you doing?
SUSIE:
  You can't kill him!
JACKIE:
Why not?
SUSIE:
Because we don't even know
he did anything wrong yet!
JACKIE:
Bullshit, Susie!  He did it!
HELEN:
(sounding more sober now)
Wait a minute, did anyone see him
go upstairs or outside?
SUSIE:
He came in from outside.
JACKIE:
You see?!  Right there!
Guilty!
JAIMIE:
Then how did he get the bodies
up there without us knowing about it?
JACKIE:
We weren't watching him every
minute!  He could've cleaned out
my mother's jewelry box too, for
Christ's sake!
HELEN:
Jackie, he was sitting in the living
room with us the whole time!  The only
one that kept disappearing was...
you.
JACKIE:
What?!
CHRISTINE:
Jackie, you have to calm down.
Don't go crazy on us now.
JACKIE:
Crazy?  Me?  I'm  not the one
who killed two of our best friends
and put them in the shower, am I?
No!  So, if you want to call
anyone crazy, go over to that
maniac standing right there!
Jackie angrily points her finger
  at Dan.
DAN:
Fuck this.  I don't have to take
this bullshit from a bunch of teenagers.
Oh and Christine?  Make sure your
friend Jackie gets some help.  She's
out of her mind.
He walks out of the kitchen and into
  the living room, Jackie
chases after him.  The girls follow
  the chase and watch
her raise the knife and stab him
  in the back repeatedly.  He
falls to the floor near the front
door and moans in pain.  The
girls begin to cry out in fear.
Jackie kicks him over so he
is laying on his back.  She stands
  over him, clutching the
bloody knife.
JACKIE:
You sure picked the wrong house.
She laughs and stabs him again, this
  time in the chest.  His
head turns to the side as the life
  drifts away from his body.
Jackie is kneeling beside him as
  Susie approaches.
SUSIE:
Jackie?  Listen to me.  We're not angry
with you.  Are we, girls?
Christine, Helen, and Jaimie all
  shake their heads no.
SUSIE:
See?  We're not mad.  We just
want you to put the knife down.
Jackie looks up at her.
JACKIE:
Okay.
She sets the knife down on the floor.
JACKIE:
I have to get something upstairs.
I'll be right back.
SUSIE:
Okay.
Jackie turns and walks up the stairs,
  the girls
look at each other in shock.
JAIMIE:
(whispers)
Oh, my God.  It was her, wasn't
it?  She killed them.
SUSIE:
I don't know.  She might
be having some problems
right now.  I don't understand
any of this.
They stop talking when they see Jackie
  reappear at
the bottom of the stairs, a portable
  drill in her hand.
SUSIE:
  Jackie, what's that for?
JACKIE:
For protection.
There is dried blood covering it.
CHRISTINE:
That's it, I'm going home!  I
can't take this anymore.
JACKIE:
You're not going anywhere.
CHRISTINE:
The hell I'm not!
Christine rushes toward the front
  door, Jackie has
the drill turned on before Christine
  has the chance to
reach the knob.  The drill is raised
  and slices into
her as she screams.  She falls to
  the floor, Jackie
stands over her, continuing to rip
  into her.  Helen, Jaimie
and Susie are screaming.  Jackie
  turns off the drill.
JACKIE:
She was in on it too.
SUSIE:
  What?
JACKIE:
She and Dan.  They both did
it.  It's true.
HELEN:
Jackie, you lost it!  It
was you!  We all saw
you come in after we heard
that scream from outside.
And Alyssa just happened
to disappear right after you went
out back to take the trash out!
JACKIE:
Shut up!
HELEN:
You left the party so many times tonight.
No one had any idea where you went!
Now we know!
JACKIE:
(growing angry)
I'm telling you for the last time, Hel.
Shut up.
Jackie slowly begins to walk toward
  her.
HELEN:
No!  Fuck you!
Jackie turns the drill on again and
  slices Helen across the stomach.
She falls to the floor, with her
hands raised.  Jackie jams the drill
into her flesh over and over. While
  this is happening, Susie grabs
Jaimie by the arm and leads her upstairs.
  They run in the bathroom
and lock the door.
JAIMIE:
Oh, God.  Why did we have to
pick this room?
SUSIE:
I don't know and I don't care.
All I care about is getting the hell
out of here.
JAIMIE:
And how are we supposed to
do that from here?
SUSIE:
I don't know.
JAIMIE:
Oh, shit.  We're dead.
SUSIE:
No, we're not.
Tears begin to form in Jaimie's eyes.
  They both
gasp when they hear the sounds of
  footsteps rushing
up the stairs.
JACKIE:
(from behind the door)
Hey Susie, you wanna know
why I wanted to have the party
at my house?  So I could rip out
your fucking heart!  Now open
the goddamn door!
SUSIE:
Leave us alone!  Please!
JACKIE:
Leave you alone?  Oh, no.  I can't
do that.  Not until I have this drill
through your neck.  Now open the
door!
SUSIE:
Jackie, it's me!  I'm your friend!
Come on, don't do this!
JACKIE:
Alright, fine.  You don't want to
open the door, well I'll open it for
  you.
The drill starts up and Susie and
  Jaimie watch in horror
as large holes begin to form through
  the wood.
SUSIE:
Leave is alone!
Jackie continues to drill through
  the door and then kicks
it in with her foot.  She steps inside
  the bathroom, holding
the drill in front of her.
JACKIE:
Ooh, look at what I found.
Come on, Susie.  It only
hurts a little.
Susie grabs a vase from a shelf and
  hurls it
at her.
SUSIE:
NO!
The vase smashes against Jackie's
  head, causing her to fall.
SUSIE:
(grabbing Jaimie)
Come on!
They both run past Jackie, down the
stairs and out the front door.
JAIMIE:
Where do we go now?
SUSIE:
Morgan!
JAIMIE:
Who?
SUSIE:
He lives across the street!  He can
help us!
JAIMIE:
  Okay, let's go!
Back in the bathroom, Jackie gets
  angrily gets up from the
floor, picking up the drill.  She
  walks out of the bathroom
and down the stairs to see which
  way they went.
