SCENE XIII
Everyone is sitting in the living
room, talking. Through the blaring of the music,
Susie can hear the distinct sound
of a man's scream. She looks around the room
to see if anyone else noticed it,
but it appears they didn't. Jackie walks in from
the front door.
JACKIE:
(entering the living room)
Hi, I went to get some fresh air.
It's hot as hell in here.
SUSIE:
Did you guys hear that?
JACKIE:
Hear what?
SUSIE:
It sounded like a scream coming from
outside.
GEORGE:
It's probably just some kids messing
around.
DAN:
Probably.
SUSIE:
No, I heard it loud and clear. It wasn't
any kids.
And Jackie, I'm not sure, but I think
I heard a...
JACKIE:
(starts to get frightened)
Oh, God. No. Please. Please, Susie.
Don't say it.
SUSIE:
You know you had to have heard it too
from
outside. Jackie, it sounded like a
drill.
JACKIE:
No! This can't be happening again!
CHRISTINE:
Wait a minute, Jackie. Don't freak
out. Susie, you
said you thought you heard it.
The radio was so
loud, it could've been anything. Don't
go jumping
to conclusions. I'm sure it's nothing.
SUSIE:
I'm not sure. I'm just telling
you what I think.
CHRISTINE:
Well, you're really freaking us all
out, Susie.
HELEN:
(rubbing her head)
Hey Jackie, you got any aspirin? I
got
one hell of a headache.
They all laugh.
GEORGE:
(looking at his watch)
Well girls, It's getting kinda late
and I bet there's
a logical explanation for where Alyssa
is. When she
comes back, just tell her to call me,
okay?
JACKIE:
Sure, George. See ya later. Be right back, guys.
I'm going to get something to eat in
the kitchen.
She disappears into the swinging
door.
GEORGE:
Bye.
George waves goodbye to everyone
and starts out the front door. As he walks,
he checks for any signs of Alyssa.
When he reaches his car and sees she is nowhere
in sight, he digs in his pocket for
the keys. Without looking up, he gets in and starts
the ignition. The car backs up to
get out of the space and Alyssa's head falls
lifelessly onto the windshield and
lands with a loud smack. Blood drips down
the glass. He screams and opens
the car door. He looks which direction to run.
He turns around and sees the drill
coming toward him, slicing into him. It
finally jams into his chest and he
falls down at the feet of the killer.
